Here are a few photos of my finished (FINALLY) BNSF GP7u. Let me know what you guys think, and I can elaborate on how I did it if someone requests. Thank you railimages.com for hosting the photos!
The difference that your time spent detailing makes, is amazing. There's no way to tell what scale this is. Anyone skeptical of what can be done when modeling in N should be quickly converted! Boxcab E50
Craig, your work as always is superb! I love the look of those units, especially the cab, and must get around to doing one. How did you make the cab? A few details on the rebuild, please
I been tellin' you guys that Craig has "The Best Looking Models Around" ! And that's "N" Scale Super Fine Craftsmanship at its finest! Excellent job there Craig! (AGAIN)
Thanks for all the great comments guys! I appreciate it all of them. Here is info I posted on the cab over on the Atlas forum: The "Topeka" cab is made from a Kato SD40-2 cab. I started by totally removing the number board and head light area and the slanted side peices of the roof. I then cut the new roof (square) and mounted it to the correct height for this cab. Next I mounted the new slanted sections, filled in holes with putty, sanded, filled, sanded, filled, sanded, etc. etc. and scratch built the number board/head light area once again. It was a LOT more work then I thought it would be. And Richard, at the moment all I have in the works is a BN SD40-2 (with correct rear grills) though I did buy an undec Atlas GP7 today for $21!!!! I'm thinking of what to do with it.............any ideas?
