FVM's GEVO have some missing details already like the wrong handrails and missing DB vent pluss the radiator section is the wrong phase and no one is complaining, so Kato could do the ACe's if Japan approves.

At least FVM got the high headlight, I probably won't mind the handrails and such, but the headlight is the thing that gets NS modlers the most.

Are there any big differences between the Kato Aces and the NS Aces besides some rooftop details?

Using the Reading ACe as an example....

Isolated cab for the most obvious, new style EMD antenna and GPS dome, inverter cabinet is different for the rear section, underframe details are also different.

In a nutshell Kato did what I believe to be a 2005 or 2006 build ACe which was also the last year of non-iso cab production, the Kato model is woefully out of date....

GTRail and others, a word of warning. Posting hot links for showing images from other sites is a copyright issue and it could cause trouble for Trainboard if it is done (like the image above). I would not do it... a link is sufficient in most cases. Now if you were the one who took the photo, that would be a bit different of a story...

I don't think it would be too hard for Kato to make some changes to their Ace.

Considering the popularity these have and potential for tapping into the "collectable" mindset for each one... I'd bet they'd be willing to do a whole new shell.

Wow - NYC, Reading, Erie units all look good. Each one looking better than the previous. I think it must be the paint they are using. I am probably biased though, since I work for the company that made the paint for the Progress Rail units.

NS is doing a great job on these schemes. I might have to pick up a few even though they don't fit my era or particular road.

I understand all of the heritage units are suppose to be at the NC Transportation Museum at Spencer, NC in June. I don't remember the date.

I really wish I was closer so I could go "bag" them all at once! LOL

And for the VGN... finally an EMD...
    http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=399800

Odd really... VGN specifically ordered GE electricals in all of their FMs because of the superior performance and quality vs. the Westinghouse equipment yet NS paints an EMD up... must notta done their research...
