On May 18th, 1996, Pere Marquette 1225 simmers at 125 psi on "static" display at Durand Railroad Days. ("Static" is a relative term, only accurate as compared to her entrance into town earlier in the day.) In about 12 hours, the crew will start building steam for the short return trip to Owosso. I have the Bachmann model of this locomotive, which I eventually plan to detail to represent the the big Berk as she looks today.
Shays are among the most fascinating to watch - especially from the engineer's side: Ottawa Science & Technology Museum, July 2008, during a run-by. I've heard that she's sidelined until further notice, boiler issues.
