What's your fav books on the NP?? A couple of my favs: Butte Short Line (Homestake Pass); Mullan Pass; Both by Bill and Jan Taylor.. Also, what's your thoughts on this book: NP Billings to Sandpoint
I don't have the book Billings to Sand Point. Would love to get it. Too many books, too little money! Would like to buy more NPRHA stuff! One of my favs, is "The Northern Pacific Railway Of McGee and Nixon." Written by Dick Green. Boxcab E50
My favorite is The Northern Pacific by Dale Sanders, but I also like all the Northern Pacific Color Pictorials a lot. I'm not much into the reading, unless it's of a subject I'm modeling. The newest book I got was the Kuebler Vista Dome book. There was another recent book released in the past year or two that I missed. I can't remember the name or I would order it, but I trusted my LHS and he never came through, so I missed out. I think it was about the NP in North Dakota? -Robert
The 3 books on NP motive power by Robert L. Frey and Lorenz P. Schrenk: Northern Pacific Classic Steam Era Northern Pacific Railway: Supersteam Era, 1925-1945 Northern Pacific Railway: Diesel Era, 1945-1970
I love the Jim Frederikson Books: "Steam to Diesel" "Railroad Shutterbug" "Railscapes" These are valuable references for me on the operations around Tacoma. For "basic" information Dale Sanders NP book is very nice, also Dough Nighswongers "NP in Color" as good color photos... NP Color Pictorials 1 till 5 and the series by Robert L. Frey and Lorenz P. Schrenk are also very valuable for the NP Modeller. But my favourites are the "Northwest Rail Pictorials" 1,2 and 3 by Warren W. Wing. Though not NP specific they offer a wealth of photos and operation information for the Northwest. I based my decision to model Lester and tacoma on these books... Cheers Dirk But my favourite
