Very original! If their entire fleet was painted that way, wow!

This page has a couple of pics of what FMRC/GNBC power looks like. They're all chopnosed first-generation Geeps, and have names for the various Indian tribes in the Sooner State.

It was an article in Model Railroader about FarmRail which inspired me to name my engines. Not after Indian tribes but physicists.

Many of the Gp10s Farmrail owns are ex Illinois Central rebuilds from their Paducah shops.

Living as I do in Western Oklahoma Farmrail is my regional RR.

Oddly, I haven’t yet seen that anniversary loco.

We recently had some severe thunderstorms throughout western Oklahoma and the town of Hobart was hit badly. Flashfloods closed all highways into and out of the town as well as taking out track and a trestle belonging to Farmrail.

This severs the line into Hobart as well as points south. I’ll try and find out how long it will take to complete repairs. Until then Farmrail should be able to access those towns and customers by way of Altus and track rights over the WT&J to Snyder then north up their tracks. It’s a long way around but doable.

I'd heard about that on Railspot as well, I've also heard that the wheat harvest has been a bin-buster this year. The missus was in Altus, OK a few weeks ago running title for pilepine, and commented on all the covered hoppers she saw, as well as the WT&J diesels (she thought the paint scheme was odd, I reminded her they came from the C&NW, and are all ex-Frisco GP7s).

You mean the hoppers were ex-C&NW? Not the Geeps?

Well I tried to get some photos of the downed trestle but it is on private property and accessible only by a private road. Not to mention my car probably wouldn’t make it down said road.

I scanned an image of the track damage from the paper which depicts the damage of the track where it crosses Oklahoma 9. When I get home from work I'll upload it. Hopefully that will be okay since the credit of the photographer is there, albeit hard to read.

    Here's the pic...

it's of the washed out railroad tracks that cross Oklahoma 9 in Hobart. The heavy rains were last Wednesday night that caused the dike under the tracks to rupture and cause all of the damage.

No, the Geeps did come from CNW. But, they were bought by CNW from Frisco when the latter road retired them. CNW got a lot of ex-Frisco GP7s- I have slides of same at home that I shot in Iowa in 1981. Also got beaucoup shots of ex-Rock Island Geeps (stored & in service), and retired F-units in Oelwein & Des Moines.

Oops. It'll take more than a couple of minutes to fix that mess!
