Well, I don't have a scheme yet, but I do have the logo. See below. In my version of history, this is a merger that occurred during WWII to assist in expediting war traffic. Although the 2 lines share the same logo, they will continue in many cases with seperate color schemes which can be seen as motive power will be shared on an as needed basis between the two routes. This makes things easy because the first priority is to change the logo before other changes are made. Lettering and paint schemes will be modified at a later date. Stay tuned for more breaking news This merger, of course has put the Milwaukee road in a pinch and they are worried about the GN&P powerhouse.
About a year and a half ago I had chosen the road name "Pacific Great Northern." A little later I had contacted Scale Rail Graphics to come up with a logo ... which interestingly looks like the one you've chosen for your road, except for the coloring. :teeth: After further considerations, however, I renamed my road "Great Northern Pacific" and decided to come up with a more "modern" logo (which is still in the "idea" stage for now). Also the colors for my "Great Northern Pacific" are Big Sky Blue but using the original "Empire Builder" scheme. The premise of my road is not only the merger of GN/NP but the total absorption of SP&S without a trace. After all SP&S was jointly owned by GN/NP .. what need of it after a total merger? Later, when Milwaukee Road finally went under, GNP purchased the entire electrified line Othello to Tacoma and is now in the process of upgrading the entire section with possible future expansion. Additionally, control of the WP was accomplished before the UP “Borg” got its hands on it, thus ‘protecting’ the Inside Gateway route. So far I've already had a ABBA set of Kato EMD F3's painted in GNP colors & scheme .. now I just need to get the logo's and lettering completed. Later I will have a set of Life Like ALCO FA/FB2’s painted. Anyway, it's good to see another "Empire Builder" type modeler thinking along the same lines. :teeth:
I _had_, I just _had_ too! Yes, yes, I know it is sacriledge but: The real question: Will I be abel to resist buying one and having the decals aplied?
Just FAI (for anyone's info) ... here's my new logo for my "Great Northern Pacific Railway" : Now to figure out the lettering ...
Cool! Very Nice Logo!!! Great color scheme!!! Perhaps a scroll rolling across the logo, from left lower middle to right upper middle of the logo. Scroll with 2 or 3 folds. Between the folds saying Great Northern Pacific Railroad! Like this! Just a suggestion. Again, Great Logo!!!!! Hobo Tim
Most appreciative .. it only has to be similar in style as to that which appears in my "signature" avatar. Thanks!! :teeth:
My Dream loco's come true! Well my "dream" has come true ... EMD F3's painted for my home layout "Great Northern Pacific" in GN Big Sky Blue colors but utilizing GN Empire Builder scheme. Kato EMD F3's ABBA... decals will follow later once I have them produced; a work still in progress.
It looks like that'll be quite handsome when completed--actually, it doesn't look too bad now. I have some ideas for a family scheme for my MidStates Transportation and its component railroads (KB&S, Dayton & Western (fictional), Monon, and TP&W). Time for me to get to work I suppose...
Pete, my old '94 Vette came with stickers in the door jams that said Caution: If anticipated speeds are to be above 150 mph, put 5 additonal lbs of air in each tire. It only got to 173 in 5th with a 6th gear still left. It's replacement says Z06 on the front fenders, and I'm afraid to look for anything anywhere else! Supposed to be gettin too old for this!
Ok, so guess who just placed an order for an undec version of these Atlas 24' TOFC? Ok, now for a can of flat black spray paint, practice decaling and finding someone / someplace to do the decals.
so you got a z06 ? considered one myself. but on the other hand i like my audi rs4 way too much to replace. it's just an 'ordinary' station wagon... ;-) 2.7liter v6 biturbo.... 440 horses which gives a top speed of almost exactly 200mph
Grey One, Yes, Tower 55 did the model and the paint job. Nice stuff!!! You may already know that they are a new division of Overland Models that makes highly detailed plastic models.
