Over the weekend, I set up a little 2' x 4' table with a small oval Bachmann "Iron Duke" train set I got for Christmas. I figure the little table gives me a chance to practice scenery techniques in a space that doesn't really matter, and I found out that my almost 3 year old daughter is a born conducter. She will sit with me for hours (amazing for her to do ANYTHING for hours). She runs the train, I hardly get to touch it. Just getting this little table set up and seeing her play- I can't wait to start building a real layout.
Just wait until you get your big layout going, you may not get to 'play' with that either It is great when young children like model trains ------------------ Alan Curtis. Moderator. My wife does in home daycare. That means at any one time, we might have 3-4 small children around. Almost all of them, even the girls, love to go downstairs and "see the trains go!." One reason I made sure I had continuous running was this very reason. I set up a small train (3-5 cars) and just let it go. What a mixed train it is...a Railbox box car, a green tanker, a red ATSF boxcar, and a blue hopper.... kids love the different colors. I love watching their faces as they watch the trains run....reminds me of why I do this...for the fun!!! Jeff Augsburg & Concord R.R.
