True. But as one possible example, units which were done at some time post-BN merger seem to have been many, and were or are still scattered everywhere. Road names such as BN, MRL, and.....?
I've seen these at a few train shows...I think the guy is local. I wasn't super impressed, but I think they serve a purpose. I almost bought a couple of the GP7u's, since I will eventually need several more, but I decided to hold off. Especially interested in how they fit on the chassis...don't want another Kaslo F59PH debacle where it doesn't fit any appropriate mech with any amount of grinding. He didn't have the B30-7A there when I was looking through the pile of shells. I already have one and probably wouldn't buy another unless it was the phase-II with the humpback. Hopefully Atlas won't come down too hard on him...the prices are reasonable so it's not like he's making a killing off their tooling, plus the quality isn't the same as bashing an actual Atlas shell so...doubt it's gonna affect them much at all.
This is something I can never understand. People who feel free to do things such as suggested here. We've seen it a bunch of times. If true in this instance, not good. And we really should not be promoting it anywhere, let alone on TrainBoard.
Big Dawg, welcome to TrainBoard! Since it seems you are the proprietor of the shells in question, do you have a product list or a website that we may check out?
The Kaslo F59PH fits very nicely on an Atlas GP38/40 mech with only minimal mods. It in no way fits the suggested Athearn mech. Adrian
