I was just wondering if anyone could provide information on the external modifications made to the hi-level coaches that Amtrak refurbished for use on the Heartland Flyer and other trains. From pictures I have seen, it looks like a full sized window was added on the lower level but I can't really tell, or if it was on both sides. I am thinking of modeling one of these coaches in HO scale and I would like them to be prototypical. Thanks for any help. ------------------ Andy's Amtrak Photos
F40, I will be riding the Heartland Flyer tomorrow morning and will look to see if anything jumps out at me. Also you can look at some pics of the cars on the Flyer at my web site at www.theheartlandflyer.com Ron
Ron, thanks for your help. I will check out your web site and see if I can figure it out from the pictures there. Have a good trip. ------------------ Andrew Suerth University of Minnesota Duluth Andy's Amtrak Photos
Andy, I did not notice a lot of "modifications" to the actual cars. With the exception of the paint job. These cars are painted in what looks like a cross between phase III and Phase IV. They have the Phase IV stripes with a white Amtrak above the door. Ron
