I know that most folks on this site are Americans, but was wondering how many are Europeans, or are interested in European railways? It would be great if you would check in, even if just to say hi! As you know Alan, there is me, Ben, interested in railways of all countries, but especially at the moment the places I visited in Europe earlier in the Summer, particularly Italy. I am awaiting some HO scale models of Italian locos from a supplier (there is only a very small choice available in n scale). As to British model railways, there was a very good garden meeting of the Gauge 3 Society at a member's house in Bedfordshire two weekends ago when I successfully ran my Midland Ry 0-6-0T (fired by methylated spirit). For those members not in the know, there is a thriving live steam fraternity in the UK, from 0 gauge upwards, particularly strong in gauge 1 and growing all the time in gauge 3 (2 1/2 inch gauge scenic railways as opposed to the hauling of passengers and the driver on riding trucks behind the engine). You know me Alan. A Swiss rail fan (one of many) from England. Interested in most European railways... and dare I say it, some U.S. ones, after registering with Trainboard. John. ------------------ John Whitby See Swiss Trains at http://website.lineone.net/~john.p.whitby
Alan, all my stuff is American, but of course I like the Belgian railways, I also liked British railways a lot in the time of the blue and blue and grey paint schemes with the white arrows. As I'm typing now I see the Bachmann HO steamers in green BR colours on the rack in front of my desk. Hello Ben. I had meant to be at the G3 get-together, but was far too busy with my N scale stuff Pity, we could have had a good chat about American railroads, and N scale John, if you changed to American railroads, you would not need all that catenary ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery [This message has been edited by Alan (edited 21 September 2000).] [This message has been edited by Alan (edited 21 September 2000).]
Interested in U.S.Railroads... but not yet converted Alan !!! And what a pity that all that catenary is DB instead of the correct SBB.....For the sake of realism I think I should change it all before finally crossing the Atlantic.
