While researching ghost towns along the Midland RR and D&RG routes from Colorado Springs, some of the old barns and their different styles had me curious as to why they were built that way. My trips back and forth across Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas provided more barn styles to ponder. Seems glacial vs quarried stone, and German/Swede/Cornish/Dutch/Italian etc... dictated the brunt of the design. Ethnic History and Beauty of Old Barns is a title I came across on a quilting site of all places but was an interesting read.

I get the sense it has a northern European feel to it. Also appears to have been abandoned for a long time. Thanks for sharing a lovely setting.

That's a beauty! I love old barns. The stories they could tell, of their builders, the hopes and dreams..... So sad when they fall to disrepair and then crumble.
