Just wanted to inform everyone here that my new etched metal Modern Style Cut Levers are in stock as well as more then 10 other new parts. Below are some photos of the new cl's on two projects I am working on. The cut levers are packaged as #13 (two pairs for $3.00) and #62 (five pairs for $10). My website (link below) has not been updated to show the new parts but should show them in a few days. Thanks! ssooo, what do you guys think?
Craig, Are these etched flat and then bent by the purchaser? They look great! I couldn't tell they are an etched part, nice quality! 2slim
Yeah 2Slim, these cut levers come flat and you have to cut them out of the etched metal sheet and bend the middle part to a 90 dagree angle with the rest of the cut lever. You can also get fancy with the ends if you want. The cut levers also come with the mounting 'I' bolts to mount these on the pilot of a locomotive but on the locomotives in the pictures above I skipped that part.
Craig, I just noticed something, you mention that you can get 2 pair for $3 and 5 Pair for $10. So if I buy 3 of #13 for $9 I save a buck and have an extra pair of levers than if I buy (1)5 pair pack for $10. Sorry dude, not trying to mess with your head, just wondering. 2slim
OOoooooops, thanks for saying something 2slim, that should read #13, 1 pair for $3. I was thinking two to a pair and any way...... sooo 1 pair $3 5 pair $10 Save $5!
Craig, I finally picked up some of your detail parts. None of the delars in my area stock your stuff but I was able to pick some up at the train show in Plesanton CA. this weekend. The freight Yard had a booth set up and they had some of your parts. I grabbed up all the cut levers and drop grabs that they had and some ditch lights, and Santa Fe style antenna stands along with some 48" grabs. Your stuff looks great. Just wondering, did you bend the origonal cut levers and drop grabs by hand? Looking forword to your etched brass stuff. How about some etched brass cab shades for Modern EMD units. You have done them in resin but etched brass would be so much more durable. Brian
Thanks for the note and thanks for buying my parts! The original cut levers were bent by hand (my older style cut levers are still bent by hand). The grab irons (all types including drop) are and will continue to be bent by hand. Up next I was thinking about having the modern style EMD cab sunshades done with photo etching but each time I have a part photo etched, it takes a BIG chunk of change out of my pocket! I would also like to have my EMD Spartan Cab Doors done in etched metal.......later though. If you have a store in your area that you would like to stock my parts, please let me know there information and I will be in contact. Thanks!
Craig: Just wanted to say that the next time I get up to N Scale Supply, you're going to bust my budget. Thanks!
Craig, There is a store in my area that would probably carry your parts. The shop is called Model Railroad Station Hobbies, contact Doug Clements at MRSHOBBYS@aol.com. Doug and his Dad are both N Scale modelers. I think they would be impressed by your parts. 2slim
Thanks for the info 2slim! I will be in touch when I have some extra time. Here is a picture of how the cut levers come. Included in one set are two cut levers (which customer bends) and more then enough mounting pins to mount the two cut levers on the pilots of a locomotive of their choice.
My first set of these arrived yesterday. Craig has certainly gone to the next level in detail part precision and quality. The new drop grabs are awesome too! I'm pretty sure that all of my roster will eventually get these upgrades. Time to buy some new chisel blades! Russ
Craig, I need lots of those cut levers, and several others of your parts. I will sort something out after the holidays.
