I am seriously thinking of switching my DCC system to ESU ECos. It's a little large compared to all the hand held systems out there. Anyone on the board have any experiaence with this System?

I will need to add the walk around controller just for the convenience of a walk around wireless throttle.

I switched from LENZ to ESU with the wireless walk around throttles. I did not want the ECOS system, because I want walk around control. It was a great move and far less expensive than the ECOS version. The ESU Cab Control system is very easy to use and the touch screen is excellent. It was definitely the right move for me.

If you have sound equipped locomotives, you won't be sorry. ESU.jpg

Virtually everything I run has sound. I have studied the ECOS and look forward to linking up a smart phone as my walk around hand held throttle.

I have a POWERCAB and a PROCAB. I am really sick and tired of destroying phone cables.

Ordered the ESU ECOS System today. If I really need the Remote wireless handheld, I believe ESU offers one that plugs in to the bottom of the ECOS console and simply acts as a wireless.

I am looking to run 3 trains at the same time without fumbling to transfer control with a single hand held unit.

    It should be fun...

... or run it on another system that will allow you to run phone throttles.

The other great thing about EngineDriver over some commercial throttles I've seen is that you don't have to memorize the function keys as to what they control. It shows on the screen (see the phone throttle above).

I will have the CabControl system as a test platform that will allow me to sell all my Digitrax devices. It is not that the Digitrax stuff doesn't work pretty good, it is just I am moving to RailCom for better automation capabilities. I hit the limitation of a maximum number of turnouts that Digitrax supports in less than 1/2 the layout. So I had to piece it together using multiple command stations as isolated control districts. RailCom and LCC will reduce the overall complexity of the layout with just the CabControl system and a bunch of boosters. I thought about the ECos, but decided it was not needed since the layout is also connected to the computer and the JRMI tools. I had a CabControl that was defective, so am waiting on the replacement.

The ECOS system showed yesterday afternoon. It is amazing to see all the capabilities the unit has. Having fun running trains but also studiying the manual to learn all the key strokes. This should be the last system I need to buy. I hope!
