Yes, Long Train, undecorated cabooses are extremely handy for a situation where you don't yet have the caboose you want. I've done that many times over the years---undecorateds may be less than you'd like to have, but on the other hand, they don't clash, either!
Fotheringill---Good luck with it---when you finally have the caboose, you'll appreciate it that much more.
BTW, Anyone fixin to get Erie caboose decals ran off can count me in on 10-15 sets. Prime Mover does them in HO, but I can't seem to get then to do N scale.
As I think about it, it seems to me that the lady in Ohio who has (or had) the remaining Northeast decal stock is named Susan Welcome, if that might be of any help. I've searched through my old e-mails and can't find anything, nor have I found any old envelope. When I did deal with her, btw, she was very nice. Maybe in the end, Rail Graphics (or somebody like that) may be the way to go.
I just googled "Northeast decals" and it led to Trainboard, where just a few days ago, on the thread "192? ARA Southern Boxcar" 3rd Rail stated that Susan Welcome had sold the remaining Northeast stock on e-Bay.
Hey, There's a guy here in Jersey,Prime Mover Decals. He's very big in Erie,EL,DL&W.He's in Dover,& he's in the ELHS.I've got 6 sets of his different decals, very nice.
Unfortunately, Prime Mover does mostly HO, according to PrimeMoverDecals.com. He does make an Erie caboose set, but it's in HO. I have a secondary interest in the DL&W, and got an N caboose set which was designed for both post-merger E-L and/or pre-merger Lackawanna. The E-L set up has only an E-L diamond, not even, as you could have hoped, the "word" Erie. There is a "contact us" on the website, and it might be worthwhile, at least, to let him know that there are hundreds (thousands?) of Erie Kato mikados out there (plus Erie Atlas GP-7s and Erie LL FAs) many of which presumably need matching cabooses. Even though I already have a bunch of Erie cabooses (my Life-Likes look sort of like they were part of the series), I'm still going to write him an e-mail. The Kato Model RR Co. should, too. Or else make one of their own little cabooses with Erie lettering---now that would make some sense, wouldn't it?
I have some northeast sets from Susan (sorry don't have the adderess) they don't have the lightening bolts or the "For Safety For Service" slogan either. My E-mails to prime mover have been unanswered.
Hey Chris, He didn't return mine either.I placed the order, paypaled him,& I rec'd them about 2 weeks. If you need,I'll see if his phone # is on the envelope.
Yup, I usually find the 3rd and 4th units eventually. Most of mine are rostered in ABBA sets: for MoPac I only have an AB, so now I'm watching for MP and Erie ABs in the other number. Here's the MP AB on a 75-car NTrakker on the Sun-N-Sand Red Line (All 3 trains in view in this shot are MP, BTW):
LT, Thats the thing. You will want the same number for the others. For example the 4 unit set would be 725A 725B 725C 725D I still havent replaced a A and B with C and D yet. After 1960 when they became EL, but before they were repainted they would be numbered 7251 7252 7253 7254 [ April 19, 2005, 09:57 PM: Message edited by: Chris333 ]
