I have eliminated the possible causes > loco's decoder (because other loco does same ), switched from old to brand new slinky throttle cable (old one pops out of panel some times using O6 cab) and, problem doesn't occur using PowerCab. The problem is, while using 06 Cab, running a short train very slowly ( 6-10 scaleMPH) for a long time (2 sMi.) all of a sudden engine darts out and starts running like 100 sMPH ,and throttle wheel does nothing to slow it down (as if address in screen is no longer address 06 is seeing internally [or like having 'recalled' a different engine while 1st one is still rolling]). I then have to hit red panic button on PCab or shut main power down. I suppose you could say to simply send it in to NCE repair. But perhaps a few out there know how to correct this via some CVs' values in PCab or other steps. I DID do a 'system refresh' to no avail.. Maybe its the throttle wheel itself. Thanks ..MARK
Try turning off Analog Conversion. Subtract 4 from what ever value is in CV29. If its 6 make it 2, if its 38 make it 34. Rich
I normally only deal with the two most typical values in CV29, they being 38 and 34. In the former, your decoder will be able to act in either DC or DCC, and will detect which it receives. If you assign a value of 34 to CV29, the only difference between that and factory defaults, or for values you assign to any other CV's you wish to manipulate, is that the decoder will no longer react to DC current. Some decoders incur and inrush of current which the decoder might interpret as a DC voltage, except that it's DCC. The problem is that it's always full power, all 15 or so volts at the rails with DCC, so the locomotive acts like it has just had full power dialed up to the rails. And, off she goes in a heart-stopping dash...
Seen that a hundred times or so... Factory reset, and test operation while still at address 3, if good continue to program. -Robert
