In fairness, I broke my #1 rule with posting this, but fortunately I haven't told you what that rule is. so here's a proper clue.... If you find the name of the Shop Owner, you will find the name of the town.
Some more Clues 1.) Owners Reporting mark ends in X 2.) Not a Steel plant 3.) Popular Steam Destination 4.) Yard used by two class I's
wow this is a hard one! Ok guys, it's east of the Mississippi, South of the Mason-Dixon Line and west of the Appalachian Mountains.
here's a big clue. NS owns the line to the yard, but the Factory owns the engine shop and uses it for in house locomotives
I've been following this from a cellphone, and finally I'm able to be with a real pc. This contest is a little tricky, with a hint like reporting mark ends with an X. Then a first of could be CSX since they haven't been in any contest yet. On the other hand it could be a leasing company which often ends with an X. In that case I think it could be Chattahoocee Locomotive Company (CLCX) There's a picture out on the internet with a clcx switcher with the marks of ALCOA on it. So to where we are: Alcoa TN (+35 46' 48.08", -83 58' 7.12") There is another picture on the internet, showing the swithers in the same colour as on the contest picture, and they say its Alcoa Terminal RR (ATRR) So I'm not quite sure what the company is, but I think it must be Alcoa with CLCX swithers doing Btw I just saw somewhere else, that there are cars with reporting mark AOCX which is ALCOA ( Aluminum Company of America) I'm so confused now.... ;-) Good one btw David.
So am I. The Mason-Dixon Line notation was a sticking point. The real Line started at the east coast, and came no further west than what became West Virginia. West of that point, is really more like folk lore.
You got it. It's the Aloca facility in Tennessee, that's where they keep there engines. As far as I know the CLCX engine is not in the satellite pic as it is only 1-2 years old. The Yard AFIAK is served BY NS whiles the AOCX and CLCX locomotives switch the plant and transfer materials between there and the other plant a few miles north. here's a photo of the new Switcher.
There is, or was, an Alcoa Terminal RR. So that is how I have listed the information in Contest Winners.
