We need for you to stop into Big Bear Lake or Big Bear City to see the latest in get away cabins. Aiiyiiyie. We have what you designed out in the woods but todays cabins are more like luxury lodges.

Thanks for sharing the plans. Looking at it and getting ideas.

I would think so having never been to Rhode Island.

This is the Vanderbilt "cottage" in Newport, known as The Breakers. I actually attended a wedding of one of my best friends there.

They have docents/actors who take you on tours, and they play "in period". On my tour, the guide asked everyone where we were from, and when I said "California", he looked at me and asked if taking a stage and rail car that far was "rather unpleasant". I replied "No, Leland lent me his personal car for the trip, though it was tedious". Unfortunately, the guy had no idea who Leland was. [Stanford -- I guess I could have said Collis, Mark or Charles, but doubt he would have known Huntington, Hopkins or Crocker, either]

We have a cottage too but I won't bother posting a picture of it.

If that's a "cottage", I wonder what they define as being a mansion?

This was the Vanderbilt Mansion (Biltmore Estate, Ashville NC).

And, of course they had their New York City mansion, as well, on 5th Ave

So so to see how impoverished they were. The NC view looks more like a royal palace in the UK.

Any of those would make nice depots.
