    The pictures are from Platamon, a small seaside town.

    This was part of the single mainline between Athens and Thessaloniki (Greece's 2 biggest cities) until about only 2 years ago. Now a tunnel with a double line passes under Platamon.
    It was a very beutiful part of the line , with the mountain on one side and the sea on the other.

    Now it has been left in it's own to be full of trash...:sad:

    Magma RR near Superior, AZ

    The Magma has been abandoned about 10 years. It recently boasted Alcos, Baldwins, and was running revenue steam until 1967 or so, last in the US if I'm not mistaken.

    Nice photo. :cry: Kind of a sad view. I wonder if it's actually abandoned? Or just embargoed? Seems like someone would salvage the steel and ties....

    Maybe not "abandoned". Magma was sold to BHP, and there's some hope that recently discovered underground copper might justify a re-opening. The track is around 40 miles, with cuts and fills through the Sonoran Desert.
