Somewhere out there in cyberspace I once saw a coloured chart identifying all the phases of the EMD F units. The units were displayed in profile and the detail of the drawing was really fine. I cant find it and wonder if any of you could redirect me to it. I figured someone out there should know what it is I'm on about. Thanks in anticipation.
As long as you remember that these numbers are assigned by foamers (that's us by the way) and not the company, http://www.railroaddepothobbies.com/resources-EMDFunits.htm
Rob, MR had an article last year on the phases of F units which was quite good. No colour from memory, though. I can scan it for you. How accurate it is Robbman could vouch for.
The one I know of is on a couple different pages for F3s and 7s. Go to Google and do a search for "emd phase chart". Jason
That site gives all the basic phase information except for the FTs. There were at least two l different dynamic brake types on the FT. Later FTs equipped with couplers had a shorter, rear roof area because the coupled units were closer together than the drawbarred units. No mention is made of the 20 FTSB (short booster) units. I don't know if I have seen phase information on FTs, but there certainly were some differences in them. Rear roof change data from Preston Cook. EMD had to shorten the roof area because one FT's roof would come in contact with the another FT unit on curves.
Gentlemen, Thank you for your replys and my appologies for taking so long to get back to you all, but I had to make an unscheduled trip to a medical specialist in Canberra, about 250Kms away from here. Gats, Thats PROBABLY where I have seen it, which means I have it here. Thank you. I'll just have a nice quiet time back reading until I find it. An enjoyable task that I can start tonight right after the Rugby semi final. Go the Sea Eagles. Once again my thanks to you all.
Yes I found it last night too. So page 62 of the October '06 MR isnt exactly "cyber space" is it. Sorry bout that. But its exactly what I was looking for. Once again folks, thanks for your help.:tb-biggrin:
