I was wondering if anyone on the forum might know where i could get information on the El Reno rock Island rail yard . i am looking for photos of buildings or diagrams of the track plan ,as i would like to re create the El reno yard on a layout , any era will do , i would like to model the turntable ,and the buildings in the northeast part of the yard . i have looked through the Oklahoma state historical association with no luck. help would be greatly appreciated .

Get your Google on, check for a "Rock" tec/hist society, Google Images and "Flikr" for possible photos in their archives, HAB/HAER (think their stuff is available thru "Flikr"), try a location or RR Name search at http://images.google.com/hosted/life ...that should give you some leads/ideas, if not exactly the answers you want. If the yard is still at least partly there now, try Google or MSN maps and aerial photos. Lotsa luck. I'm sure some others will help too. Bob C.
Remember the Rock, published by Andover Junction, has 2 issues from 2006 that have a lot of good information on El Reno. It includes track plan and all. I included a photo of the El Reno diesel shop in it's current state.
