There will be 2 scheduled events for the East Coast Large Scale Train shows which is held in York Pennsylvania at the York Convention Center..

The first show which was the original one but was changed to the Spring show is scheduled on March 26 & 27

The second one which just started last year became the Fall show, but poor attendance hurt everyone, but Aristocraft decided to make one more go of it is now scheduled for Spetember 24 & 25

Note: Please remember these are Friday & Saturday Shows, Not Saturday & Sunday shows. If you go on Saturday get there early because most start packing up around 2pm.

As usual for those who can't go I will be covering both the Spring & Fall shows and taking a ton of pictures for this board only. Anyone who has any special request pictures you want me to take please leave a reply here. The pictures I post are not to be reposted on other sites. I want Train Board to be my exclusive site for the East Coast Train Show pictures.

Here is more information on the ECLS Train Show

I hope to see you there, if not I got you covered as usual.

Please remember that I still have my 2009 ECLS Train show pictures in my album. I will not be saving them, when I take pictures of the 2010 show I will delete the 2009 show pictures from Train Board, so make sure you save the pictures you like to your computer. The only thing I ask is that you not re-post them without asking my permission, thanx.

My photo album link is always under my EMD Trainman signature here >>> My Photo Album > http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/...hp?albumid=769 <<<< Click the orange for my photo albums

Do you know of a Garden Railway Show/Convention that may be in the works so we poor Southerners could enjoy one? I think there was one in Atlanta once before.

I'll try for fall show if I can. March has me on a budget. Since the federal bailout didn't qualify me for lower mortgage payments, my mortgage was sold to another bank who lowered it by almost 60 percent. Perfer to not live in the garden with my trains if you catch my drift :) I've heard that the Frisco Custom Run cars are still being sold.

GovB, you are right, there was a Southern Large Scale Train show in Atlanta as well as a West Coast Large Scale Train show. Aristocraft is the main sponsor of these particular trains shows including the East Coast Train show. All of the Large Scale train shows Aristocraft sponsered were cancelled with the exception of the East Coast one when the economy tanked. Out of all of the Aristocraft sponsered shows the East Coast version always pulled in the most people which is why they are trying a fall version. Unless another manufacturer sponsors a Southern show at this time I'm sad to say there is none. Don't worry I take alot of nice pictures, just let me know what you would like to see and I'll make sure I get pictures of it.

    Traffic Jam areas

If you decide to travel o the show by car, there are a couple of traffic jam areas. If traveling from East going West on route 30 in York near Dutch Wonderland is a Quilt Show which backs traffic up, especially going back home around 3pm to 5pm

When traveling back home going west to east there is a juntion rooute 30 and route 41 that has a traffic light. This area is to be avoided around 3pm to 5pm or you will be there for 1 hour trying to get thru. Traffic is heavy on route 30 east around this time and is usually at a 0.5 mph crawl

Route 83 off ramp to route 30, traffic really hogs up the lanes on route 30 coming off of route 83 badly around 3pm to 5pm, not a fun place to be during this time.

    The Count Down Starts

It is now 27 days til the East Coast Large Scale Train Show starts and let me tell you that it's the BEST ALL G scale Train show you can go to on the East Coast. The club displays are always awesome and the model contest will blow you away.

I said it before and will say it again, it's the show you should go to at least once. I myself have been going to it ever since they moved it from New York to York Pennsylvania. I will actually spend the whole entire day there. Since I'm there anyway, I will be taking lots of pictures and they will be exclusive to Train Board site only, NO ONE will be allowed to repost them on any other site, period.

Remember > 27 Days - So Start Planning now

    ECLS Show Fundraiser announced

There has been announcement of a fundraiser at the East Coast Large Scale Train Show for a well worth cause. It's called the "Orphan Trains Rescue Kids" campaign and all proceeds go to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Kids. All you have to do is donate that train that just sits around, you no longer use or you just lost interest in. This can be a piece of rolling stock, locomotive, a unbuilt kit, figures or track. All items you donate will be logged in and sold right at the East Coast Large Scale Train showto everyone who attends at a great blow out price and then 100% of the proceeds go to the NCMEC foundation. So bring in your no longer wanted trains, it's a well worth foundation. Even if you have nothing to donate, you still can help by stopping by and buying something from this special table.

If you have a G scale Train to donate but can't make the show, I can do this for you since I'm going anyway. Please send me a pm I'll gieve you my address and you can ship your item to my house and I will take it to the show. I own a SUV so many items can fit in there. In return I will mail you the log ticket so you know your item got donated, this is no scam. Here is the link to the article on this fundraiser >> http://www.aristocraft.com/vbulletinforums/showthread.php?t=15540

    ECLS Spring show main sponsor

The East Coast Large Scale Train show coming up in March is sponsored by Aristocraft Trains, so don't forget to thank then when you go, without thier help this nice show wouldn't be happening. Also just a reminder this is being called a "Spring" show and although last years "Fall" version show didn't have many people come, they still want to give it one more try, so please plan on going to that one if you can't make the Spring one. The ECLS "Fall" show is Sept 24 and 25 which is also a Friday and Saturday only show. Also please remember that Aristocraft dropped sponsorship of the South East Large Scale train show and the Midwest Large Scale train show and those 2 shows have been shut down since 2009.

EMD TRainman to make donation at ECLS show

I have taken my USA Trains Rio Grande pipe load car off of the Train Store and will be donating that on behalf of Train Board for the NMEC foundation. I will be presenting it to the donation table on Saturday. I think the hand written notations on the train makes a personal touch rather than decals, hopefully it brings in alot of money for the NMEC

Special surprise at ECLS Train Show

I have a special surprise (I Hope if it all worls out) that I will bring back from the East Coast Large Scale train show. I will give you a exciting clue, but I will not give my surprise away, you have to stay tuned until after the show. Anyway I will be meeting with both Charles Ro Sr the founder of Ro Trains and Charles Ro Jr who now runs USA Trains at the East Coat Large Scale Train show. Anyone who has any reasonable and intelligent questions for them you can post them here I will try to get them in, but no promises. I was hard enough to get this amount of time in as they are very busy both days.

GovB I don't think we could get it in on time unless someone with more talent than me could make it. I wanted a custom car made for my railroad by Shawmut Car shops made in time for the show and he is already booked up and can't take on any more projects to deliver in time for the show.

How about a 1990's LGB European Sightseeing car? I'm never going to sell it, I'm not a fan of it and I'd rather it gets bought for charity.

DragonFyreGT, that would be nice. They are accepting any complete kit or any type or any make G scale train that is also complete. Another words they can't accept a project thats still in pieces or a parts lot.

20 days to ECLS Spring Train show

Now we only have 20 days left til the first day of the East Coast Large Scale train show. I need everyones request of what pictures they would like to see here on train board from that show. I will take the time to make sure I get pictures of whats requested. I provide way more pictures from this show than Large Scale On Line, hands down. I will be armed with 8GB of SD cards especially for this show.

I will be covering the manufacturers such as USA Trains, Aristocraft, Hartland Locomotive Works and also accesories from manufacturers like Bridgewerks. I talk with Dave from Bridgwerks every year and he knows me and who I am. If anyone would like me to ask a question for him, please let me know.

Is there any one else who plans on going?

Usual, Aristocraft's new products specifically the PCC Trolleys or anything else, The BN train if their going to run it again, and since you'll be meeting with Mr Ro, I would like to know any information he's willing to part with about the Modern Auto Carriers.
