Hi group - I am interested in doing an early Amtrak train with mixed road consist like the old B&O/Pensy/?? runs on the NEC. If someone can help with photos I would truly appreciate the help. Thanks, RICK

It would depend on the train. Right after the change, the trains looked pretty much the same..

Brian Solomon's book "Amtrak" from MBI publishing has alot of pictures of trains at the startup. It's available from walmart.com, btw..

There's a picture of an Amtrak train in PC colors on page 22. PC E8A 4041 was renumbered 259 and it's pulling PC coaches..

Amtrak's Adirondack in 1974 used D&H PA's and passenger cars.

Any of the Con-Cor single level stuff will work fine. Do a mix with some Amtrak stuff with big blue/red bands and your set.

Ah yes - That's pretty much what I'm talking about. Thanks for the links and the pics.
R I Straw - Thanks for the photo and the link. I love those old shots.
Kel - I'm inclined to agree with you about the consist but would like to come a little closer on the actual cars used. I'll check the library system for that title. Nice help.
David - You are a prince for putting up all of those links. Thanks

    Anyone else? RICK

http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=158084 Not actually all Amtrak. This has a more old-fashioned reason for cars belonging to another railroad - a run-through arrangement. In this case, it's Amtrak with Southern through cars, as Southern ran its own passenger trains for years after Amtrak.
