I recently came into a bunch of MR's from the sixties from my step-son who got them from a guy, free, when he bought a layout from him.

I have quite a few of them already but I didn't really start buying them until late 1967 when I became involved in actual N scale (after Treble-O-Lectric).

It's interesting how much earlier some things happened than I had thought. Linn Westcott was designing and building transistorized throttles actually in the late fifties and publishing several articles on various ones in the very early sixties. MRC's Contolmaster I, actually probably their most elaborate/comprehensive of the series, was reviewed in the March 1962 issue with the slightly simplified Controlmaster II and more simplified Controlmaster III shortly thereafter.

In these years, Charles Merzbach was advertising Fleischmann trains on the inside back cover but, in a couple of issues, one being July, 1963, he had the full page with Arnold Rapido trains! There were also some smaller Rapido ads on other pages in these same years. In the January, 1964 issue, "Small Scale Railroad Equipment" was reviewed which was Rapido stuff.

Following MR's feature article on OOO/N scale trains in the February, 1964 issue, there was a fairly lengthy discussion of these trains in the April, 1964 "Railway Post Office"

Atlas' first full page inside back cover ad (not N scale) appeared in the May, 1964 issue.

    And, it went from there...
