I just listed an item for sale in the trainstore section of Trainboard.com http://www.trainboard.com/trainstore/showproduct.php?product=689&cat=2&limit=recent&date=1181265834 When I tried a test of the "contact seller" link I never recieved an email response. Does the contact seller link work or should I have included my email in the description of the item for sale. Do I need to change something in my personal profile? Any help would be appreciated. What we have seen earlier when this was reported was that your Email provider thinks the email is SPAM and blocked it before it got to you. :boy::boy::boy::boy:
In the narrative of the ad, I usually request TB members to contact me using the TB Private Message (PM) system. That will keep the email of both individuals private. If you do contact someone by email through TB, both of your emails will be shown. Some object to this.
I have had issues with this also. I have sent at least a half dozen messages through the "contact seller" link and never received a reply. (Flash, one was sent to you a few months ago). I just figured the item had been sold and the seller just didn't bother to respond, but then a few weeks later the items were still listed for sale. With the sellers that had email enabled I sent a direct message and they all replied and said they never got the initial contact. It is most likely that a spam filter blocked them somewhere in the chain.
This is true. E-mail messages sent by TrainBoard and associated software (TrainStore, RailImages, TrainBlog) are sent from the server and not from an individual's computer. These e-mail messages are detected as being sent by an automated process and detected as spam by filtering processes, some at the ISP level or even higher I suppose. Some of these messages are killed by software that users have running on their computers also. I know that gmail.com users rarely receive e-mail from us. AOL.com also is another one that usually kills them. Thank spammers. They're the ones that have made it impossible for us to communicate effectively using this otherwise great technology. Charlie
