I think that "egatco" could even make an old ratty model power boxcar look appealing! :D

Just reinforces the rule of marketing that it's all in the presentation.

Use the "Ask seller a question" box and see if he will send you a clear photo, tell you his reserve price, and tell you exactly what needs to be repaired or replaced.

I find they are usually cooperative.

One time, we won a bid, asked them if they would let us drive over and pick it up to save shipping cost, and they did.

The only thing I do not like, is the rich kids who drive the prices way up beyond the retail cost new! That's foolish!

Yes - that really ticks me off - out of the 5 recent purchases I made - 2 of the 5 sellers did not post feedback - even though payment was prompt, communication good and checks good. I posted poitive for them when items received in good shape. I sent friendly reminders to them - one did not respond at all, the other sent an email back saying he was too busy - too busy? in the time it took to send back the reply he could have posted - it takes about 5 seconds tops!!

I Have noticed this more and more lately - I wonder if ebay can enbforce some rule on this?

Some of my own observations on the eBay experience...

I have gotten some nice goodies at nice prices (my most recent acquisition was a BLW #79 New Haven reefer that i had been looking for for years, but had never found until recently...and got it for a price I wasnt expecting :D

The flip side was a MT 20350 NH car i have been seeking for over a decade...there is one on eBay now, but i have to wave it bai-bai because the bid price has gotten stratospheric already  and past MY top bid line...so hopefully, there will be a next time for that car....

I dont buy locomotives generally because i prefer to test run all my motive power first before buying...although i wouldnt pass up a chance if it was something i wanted badly enough...

eBay is cool and fun, but i limit myself now to certain items since i have most all what I need...and the Boss (g/f) will allow me to have
