My two older brothers and I pose with the power on a train my dad was about to head out for a business trip on. We lived in the tiny town of Antigo, Wisconsin but still had rail service. Ahh, those were the days.

In many places, railroads are now long forgotten. Or treated as a foreign subject. Some folks with trails that were rails, don't believe that these weren't constructed from the beginning for bicycles.

It's great that you were able to experience some of what once existed. back when there were real passenger trains. Depots. Human interaction along and on the railroads. Versus today's miles and miles, [IMG] of miles and miles.

Which is why most of the time my camera continues to gather dust.

Russell, great picture! Reminds me of my childhood, except that would be a steam locomotive in the background. Ken, I keep reading reports of many towns in the midwest which have outlawed the sounding of horns at crossings. Too much noise for the yuppies. I can't believe it. Railroads built this country. As we said in the aircraft business when a military jet lit an afterburner and made a LOT of noise, that was the "Sound of Freedom/".
I worry greatly about the future of this country. [IMG]
