Hi folks, I have just about completed building my DCC++ system using a Wesmos AT Mega with the wifi chip onboard and the arduino motor shield sitting on top of it. All the components are mounted inside a case and I would really like to be able to duplicate the action of the onboard leds to fixed leds mounted in the front panel so I can easily see the status of the boards without having the take the lid off the case every time. I have tried using light tubes but these dont work well on the bottom mega board due to the limited space with the motor shield on top.

Does anyone know if you can connect leds into any of the vacant ports on the mega to copy the action of the onboard leds. This would mean a total of 8 leds as the mega has 4 leds as does the motor shield. This maybe able to be done with code but that is way beyond my programming skills and I would assume it would interfere with the DCC++ software in some way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as my wide open DCC++ case looks rather incomplete.

    Thanks people.

As far as the MD LEDs, just a simple hole in the case would suffice. Concerning the Mega LEDs, specifically which LEDs are you concerned about? The power LED is NOT under software control, the onboard LED is easily extended to an external LED and the TX/RX LEDs really won't tell you much except when uploading code to the Mega.

I guess that except for the MD LEDs, I don't really see any need to have the others visible at all, but that's just me.
