That is pretty neat how it just "crawls" around on top of the other cars. Interesting, thanks for sharing!
... also interesting to note that the train is in motion all this time (assumed minimum speed) and the operator is constantly picking and placing ties.
Nice shots. I liked the one of the ties in mid-air, falling to the ballast. I'd have worried, had I been the crawler operator, that I'd drop a tie just right, and it would bounce to rest ont he rail and become a derail! The lead unit--is it a slug? No engine room doors?
I think it is. Look at the rear end also - No radiator grills. Was a brief discussion on these not too long ago as I recall. Not sure where though.
Yes, it is a road slug. Sometimes the crane operator doesn't get the ties to fall quite in the clear. I've hit my share of errant ties at a pretty good clip.
Well, they were at it again, but this time on an industrial spur and slightly different... MOTIVE POWER!
... and over on the main line, things are getting busy. There was MOW equipment spread out over at least a mile of track so this is only a small sample of the size of the track gang!
