My sincerest sympathies to Don's family and friends. I remember a long time ago Don had some good advice to me back on the early Atlas Forum. Later, someone posted a message congratulating Don on attaining a big number of posts. I write now what I wrote then- "Don is a shining example of how to conduct yourself both in public and on this forum." He was a very helpful, generous man, and I wish I could have met him in person. We have lost a great guy. -Phil Brooks
Yes a very sad message for us all.Don was a great guy and always seemed to have the inside track on everything. His knowledge and humor will be truely missed.Don you were a true gentleman and you will missed by a great number of modelers. My Prayers and deepest sympathy go out to your family.
Our hobby has lost a good one, but that loss doesn't even come close to what the Brown family feels. The Thompson family extends its sincerest condolences to the Browns in this rough time. Take solace in the fact that Don's earthly struggles are over, and he's in good hands now. As the song goes, "Go rest high upon that mountain, Son, your work on earth is done. Go to Heaven a'shoutin' Love for the Father and the Son."
I sent an email to his wife Diane saying how Don touched lives thousands of miles from where he lived through the internet. I was one of those so touched. Sad to see him go.
Unfortunately I have never had the pleasure of meeting Don. I have been inspired by his excellent work numerous times though. Russ you and your family are in my prayers.
I can't believe it. I still have private messages from Don, when he returned to the forums in October. Whenever anything new in N Scale came out, you could be sure to get the news first from Don. He always seemed to know what was available, and where to get it. Don knew N Scale better than anyone I ever coorisponded with online or met, and will be remembered and missed.
Guess God wanted someone to fix up the model railroad in heaven. My prayers go out to the family. Jeff Augsburg & Concord R.R. (a fictional shortline in Central Illinois) Come see us on the web: http://www.pegnsean.net/~revnjeff
Though I didn't know Don, the passing of a gentleman so obviously well loved and respected by so many is a sad thing to hear. All my best to Don's family, including the extended one that meets here and remembers him so fondly.
My sympathies and condolences to the family and friends of Don Brown. There is nothing easy about losing a loved one. Remember, they are always there with you, even when they are gone. You will always have your memories and precious moments. No one can take them away.
I am saddened at the news of Don's passing. I lurk far more than I post and I have always enjoyed Don's postings and was anticipating his return. My thoughts are with you all, Peter Schuytema
My condolences to Mr. Brown's family. I never had the opportunity to meet or speak with him, but it is obvious from the responses above that he was a special man indeed.
I am shocked to hear of Don's passing so soon after he posted that he would be returning. I think everyone has summed up my own feelings on Don's passing. Don was a great proponent of N for many years and had made many friends within the hobby through his helpful, knowledgable and friendly disposition. My condolences to his wife and family - Don will be missed by many. Gary.
