freddy, I do not know who made that car as the original box is long gone and there are no markings on the bottom. I am not a supporter of Intermountain so I am not sure. It was just a large car that I had to decorate.
I didn't mean to call you out for intermountain so I apologize if it came across that way. I do sympathize with your sentiments though. I've a handful of both Intermountain and Athearn reefers of that style so was curious what was used is a starting point. Never the less what you did was a fantastic result and I applaud your creativity and skill.
freddy, My friend it did not come across that way in the slightest. I just think IM is full of prunes and I have had a few run ins with their quality through he years. Actually in a couple of cases hey took care of the issue, but recently is another question. From what a friend has told me from his annual visits, I am surprised they are still hanging on. PS - do noy worry about me as my 83 year old skin is quite tough and tested ! !
For those of us who watched this play out on TV before buffering. There's no way we are going to forget. The question today is will it happen again? Likely. The idea is to remember all who lost their lives and determine to never let it happen again. Flying a flag in remembrance.
My bad. This needs to be moved or deleted. As to DCC. I have a cut off swich/DPDT to cut off Cab B and bring on DCC. It worked for awhile but it was a bit complicated to operate safely. All the experimenting with it eventually resulted in the MRC power packs demise. I lost both decoders and all but swore at the whole thing. I may try to add on DCC in the future. What I won't be buying into is the sound decoders. Those squeeky, tinny sounding speakers have got to go. I want the whole growling bass sounds along with the hisses and horn sounds done correctly for the motor or locomotive. Breakfast at hand and headed back under the train table. Wiring projects can be tedious, tiring, boring and frustrating all wrapped into one. Later!!
"Many have forgotten," what? Time for clarification. You are right many have forgotten or weren't born yet. Same with Pearl Harbor. I wasn't born yet but my family, never let me forget what happened that fatal day. My bad. I thought I posted in my thread BarstowRick Layout etc. Can someone move The DCC one to my thread for me?
I didn't feel right putting a "Like" on your submission. All to sorry about you lose. It's a sad day when we can connect someone we knew to the twin towers. There's more that could be said but won't change anything at this point. Take care.
I for one will never forget, I am not an American and I live at the bottom of the world - almost. The reason I won't forget is that on 910 I flew from Toronto through New York across the US in hops to land in Auckland, NZ on 911 (you cross the date line so you lose a day). I walk into the terminal only to see the carnage on TV. I can remember staring at the screen think crap I just flew through there. A day later it would have all been very different. So I remember very well what happened, it was too close for comfort for this old kiwi.
On that day... I was a Field Parole Agent and my shift started at 10AM Central Time. I turned the news on just as the second tower was hit. Finished getting ready for my shift and against Department Policy put a rifle and ammo in the trunk of my cruiser. Some extra clothes and toiletries too. Later that day. my anger was still boiling and called into the largest radio station in our area and dedicated a song to the terrorists. The announcer was surprised, but when I told him the song, he just said"Hell, yeah!" and palyed it. Charlie Daniels' Band "In America".
