Do Bachmann engines run really slow. I just got from a Bachmann EMD SD9 with sound and DCC. I had to go to 99 on my Digitrax throttle to get a decent speed.

The only Bachmann engines I am aware of that are geared to slow speed are the 44 and 70 tonners. Full throttle with either of them results in results in about 45 Nsmph. Suggest that maybe something is binding or lack of lube and break in time.

It is hard to answer your question when "a decent speed" is so completely subjective. There is a big difference between modelers who think about scale speeds and others who are used to running trains around Christmas trees at speeds that are equivalent to more than 100 scale miles per hour. The best way to get others to tell you if your particular locomotive is acting normally or different from others of the same model is to tell us how fast it is running in some sort of objective measure, such as real inches per second or scale miles per hour.
