I have a question concerning a device in the tender of my AC-11. I cannot make this work. It is wired, tender drawbar connection, to front truck, then to rear truck. This device is colored thusly: clear body; halfway to rear, thin brown band; yellow band; wider orange band; thin black band. The orientation is from drawbar conncection to rear truck. Directional switch on power pack has no affect. Repalcement bulb lights only when one lead is run from drawbar connection, and one to a rail. Also, bulb lights when lead is run from drwbr, and other lead to rear truck, which stops motor(short?). Engine appears to run fine with this non-working device. Would appreciate help in identifying this device, and wiring directions. I would assume this worked at one time, since it is nicely soldered. Would Radio Shack have a replacement, if needed?

Sorta sounds like a resistor to me. probably not needed. A constant lighting module would have at least 2 diods in it (small triangle or round thingy) Far as wireing the thing I'm clueless also . [IMG]
