Saw this train rolling through Fostoria,Ohio in the fall of 2007.Any idea what kind of tanks these are?
Looks like an Abrams to me as well. Nice shot! Those are extraordinarily heavy trains. Each tank weighs about 65 tons, and a full load for each car is 130 tons or so. Not including the car weight, which has 3-axle trucks; you know that car is heavy too. Cool stuff!
M1A1 Abrams with a couple M1A2 Abrams mixed in. The M1A2 is the commander tank with thermal imager and comms suite. Great photo, probably being returned after re-work and upgrades since there are no identification markings on them. The tanks undergo a complete overhaul after so much use, they come back from the factory in "new" condition.
M1A1 Tank Train Temple Tx 7-13-08 This is a load of Abrams tanks two per DOD 6 axle flat car about a dozen cars on ATSF/BNSF tracks in Temple Texas just outside Fort Hood headed to the fort. They appear to have very few markings on them and have fresh paint, I am guessing on their way from the remanufactuing plant to the fort to be put into service. They are at the lead of a mixed train with an idler flat between them and the engines and then followed with mixed freight in the remainder of the train.
M1A1 s in Temple Tx upload of photos seems to have failed, am attempting again with this post. see previous post for text. Upload rejection said security token missing. I am new at upoloads to this site can someone instruct me? THnaks CM
Abrams tank train Tmple Tx 7-08 I think I have this worked out noew here are the photos ofr the post above, they are also on my Trainboard album if this doesn't work. Anyway this is a load of M1A1 Abrams on 6 axle DOD flats two per car with about a dozen cars on ATSF/BNSF tracks in Temple Texas headed to Fort Hood. There is one idler falt between the engines and the tank loads then mixed freight cars following. The tanks have very few markings on them (i.e. no unit markings) so I am guessing they are on thier way from the remanufacturing plant to Fort Hood to be put into service. CM
