Well, it seems I've waited too late to get interested in railroading. I've been looking for a copy of The Diesel Spotter's Guide only to find it is out of print. I've found used copies but I have to say that I'm very particular about my books. The thought of having one that someone else got to "fondle" first doesn't work for me. Any good suggestions for a decent alternative title that is still available? Thanks.

Have you tried Barnes and Nobles? I've seen the spotters guide and another like book (Sort of a Locomotive Spotters guide for Dummys [IMG]) there.

Well, despite my earlier misgivings regarding buying used books I did a search on Ebay. I happened across a copy of the book in good shape for only $5.00. How could I resist? So I bid and won. Another example of the great bargains you can find on Ebay.
