Diecast Masters has added two new Cat models to their Micro-Constructor Series. The models are approximately 1:144 scale. However, with the scarcity of 1:160 scale construction models (especially any painted and assembled) I thought is might be useful to post some comparison photos of the new models.

Comparison photo for 1:160 scale GHQ Cat IT 18F, 1:150 scale Maruka Kawasaki, and Diecast Masters Cat 950M wheel loaders.

The Diescast Masters Cats are quite toy like, but perhaps they could be detailed and made more presentable to be placed with 1:160 scale models. o_O

I bought some of their keychains I think last year and am really happy with them. I just cut the keychain part off each one. So which are the NEW ones exactly?

    These?

I would suggest once detailed, place them up front and allow the tracks or other detail elements be further back to force the perspective.

Yes, the Cat 950M loader and the Cat 770 off road dump truck are new for 2023. They were initially released as keychain models in January, and then they were released in display cases in June. Diecast Masters' website only shows the keychain version. https://diecastmasters.com/collection/micro-constructor-series/

Yeah, a little weathering and dull the shiny tires and they'll be a nice addition!

I purchased the display box version of the Cat 950M wheel loader and the Cat 770 off road truck at an online hobby shop that carries a lot of diecast models of all scales, as well as the plastic Ho and N scale models from Wiking. I don't think I can "legally" post the name of the hobby shop. However, if you go to the N Scale Vehicle Association's Group.io page I believe you can read the messages without having to join the group.

This link is to the Group.io home page: https://groups.io/g/NScaleVehicleAssociation

And this link is to the Micro-Constructors thread: https://groups.io/g/NScaleVehicleAs...694817157860884653&nextid=1674217848200861767

So they are not attached to the base? That's the site where I got my keychains. I posted that site before here and it wasn't an issue. They don't sell train stuff as far as I can see!

So I paid like $15.00 for a backhole on Amazon in 2021, and got the $4.99 keychain and it looks just as good :) My bad!

It was great when Walmart sold these .............they were like $2.99. They also had a whole bunch of military stuff in both German and American. I built a 57 car WW2 military train around them. Added some other stuff in, but all the tanks (except 3 Fireflys), howitzers, halftracks, and trucks came from Walmart. Yes......they are 1:144, but because they are ALL that size, you don't notice. Same for the construction equipment.......people EXPECT it to be big, so unless you put one of these right beside a correct scale one no one will notice.

The display box models have a "post" under the model in which a screw from under the base secures the model to the base.
