Folks, I have completed my first superdetailing job, on 2 Kato BNSF snoots. The evidence of this affair is in my web link in my signature. BLMA is a major source for parts. Thanks, Craig! Sunrise Ent. and Gold Medal Models parts are also used. All grabs are freestanding. What a job! I wa sup till 1AM doing one... Maybe that's why the garbs on the long hood were crooked... Let me know what you think!
Hemi GOOD JOB For other members, follow the link in Hemi's posting to the Project folder and look at photos 31-35. Photos 32 and 33 are the best ones IMHO eNjoy
Thanks, Guys! Badger Modelflex BNSF Green and Orange were used exclusively. The orange was closest, but the green was a tad too dark. I'm only selling them to make money to complete a passenger train.... I like them a lot, too. My 90MAC will be better, and I won't sell it. I guess you could call this practice.
Great work! I always like to see other folks' modeling efforts. Seeing such great work is kind of inspiring and depressing at the same time. Harold
Awesome job! It took me quite a while to get even halfway decent on superdetailing HO scale diesels, so I know I've got a learning curve ahead of me for N scale. But, looking at your locomotives for inspiration, I know it can be done. Any more projects in the pipeline? Highball, y'all!
Out of curiosity, whose grabs did you use? I've used JnJ and really like them. And though there may be an echo in here, I'll add my Well Done to the chorus, and remind you that the NEXT one will be easier. Actually, I think the hardest part is taking the knife and pin vise to such a chunk of money. Congrats.
I know, the first cut and drill is the hardest one to a 30$+ shell..... I used JnJ grabs, BLMA grabs, and other parts. If you'd like a list, gimme a shout! I can hardly wait to get crackin' on the MAC....
