Has DI discontinued these cases. I bought a bunch years ago. They are great for storing rolling stock, especially if traveling. I could put them in a suitcase and know the contents would be safe no mater what the airlines did to the bag.

Anybody know the status? They are not on the DI future product sheet.

I have used other cases, but like these the best.

They've been out of production for years and I was told that they would like to make them again if they can get them produced for the right cost.

I might have to try selling my extras.

They have been out of production so long I wonder if people will remember how good they are.

There's another company that makes them. I ordered three of them last year....I can't for the life of me find the link though.

    That would be great!

I've been shopping around trying to see if I could order myself custom cut foam inserts to make my own versions - this would save a ton of work if it pans out.

    I use these :http://www.cabelas.com/product/Fish...=SBC;MMcat104793480;cat104777280;cat104620680

Available @ "Cabelas", "Plano #3701" -- $7.49 ea. -- I line the bottom with thin foam from "Hobby Lobby" and bingo - GREAT "N" scale car cases. I've used them for over ten years now. They have adjustable partitions, so they can be modified to fit almost any combo of cars. Depending on the locos/cars, they will hold about 12-15 of either.

It would be nice if DI started making them again. Guess this is why a lot of the new runs of roadrailers and such are coming in smaller amounts in the individual cases vs. 10 car sets in the nice storage cases. But the one I really miss are the High Iron cases. I have a dozen or so but would love to have more and always keep my eyes open for them at shows and on ebay.

I recommend calling G&G Trains in Leslie Michigan. They sell some cardboard storage boxes with laser cut soft foam rows in them designed for N scale. The rows cut into them can hold about 36 50' N scale cars. One can custom these boxes as they come with some of the foam that was laser cut from the rows. I.E. You can customize the rows to your rolling stock. They are about $11 a box.
