Decoder versions

    An open question to all DCC'ers. What is the real difference in the Decoder versions? I just purchased 4 of the same decoders DN163K1A's they all look exactly the same however one of them has a version of 049 and this decoder is at least 50% louder than the 3 others. Can any one give me a little info on the differences of the versions?

    are your sure this particular one is not one of the older decoders (dn144k2) ??

    Sandro Well they all came in DN163K1a package but that is what I'm thinking. (I have 30 Dash 9's with decoders that is the software level in all of them) They are also louder due to them not being silent type decoder/software.

    last time i ordered 50 dn163k1a and all are silent. ........ another 80 on order....

    that is what messed me up with these since all 4 came from the same dealer and are Pacakged the same wierd that 2 of them are different.
