    Will it do harm to my DCC decoder equiped Atlas (n-scale) locomotives to run them on a regular DC layout while waiting to get my DCC layout up and running?

    It may behave a little different than on DCC but it will not hurt the decoder.

    Yes it does behave different

    I have one that was factory set to DCC only and one that runs on DC and DCC. They tell me some decoders are switchable to do DCC only or DC and DCC. I am not sure which one is capable of doing what. I do know the one that runs on both will lose it's address when run on the DC layout for a length of time. I have to re-address it when I take it back to the DCC layout. Just my 2cents.:zip:

    You can run your DCC loco on a DC layout. The decoders in Atlas loco's are preset at the factlry to run on DCC and DC. You can change CV 29 to allow any loco to run on DCC only.

    This what I do with all my loco's.

    Stay cool and run steam.....:cool::cool:
