Since no one has yet to post any threads on General Decals for Z scale I thought I'd start one. If you have ideas, or have made decals post photos here! Here is a photo of a test sheet of paper with 2 different proposed decals. Top is for the Mark4Design 50' Waffle Car and the bottom one is for my 53' cast resin smooth side containers. The bottom design is in the full color the decal will be printed. Since EMP/OptiModal is on a white container, I don't need any white decal backing behind the logos or the lettering. As for as the Waffle side, it will take a white backing and then the appropriate color printed over the white to make the decal stand out on a dark background. Should look good when finished. Perhaps this weekend I'll have a sample decal made. Stay Posted! Hobo Tim
Great job Tim. I make my own decals too. I only have the Alps MD1000 printer, but I use Corel Draw to draw vector artwork: Then I print the layers in Spot Color (no dots, but solid ink one color at a time) mode, overlaying as many as 6 layers on some decal sets to print the decals: And finally I overcoat the decals with Microscale Liquid Decal Film.
Yes, we want more CSX decals. I, Personally think that you can't go wrong with doing CSX decals. You will have at least one customer, me. Of course every z scaler will want a copy. Have I convice you enought yet. More, more, more, Did I say we want more CSX decals?
here is my first attempt at DIY decals: new road numbers for my GP35 - created graphics in AutoCad (just because it is easy for me), used inkjet HP printer on white decal paper. not entirely to my satisfaction, but you have to start somewhere... rgrds Chris
