People. I have aquired a Concor N Premiere Edition UP 4-8-8-4 Big Boy by Riva Rossi, which is dead. Beautiful unit in fantastic condition. It just doesnt go chuff chuff... Wondering if anyone knows where I may source a motor for one of these, or if a re-motoring kit is available for it? Thanks Bruce
Cool you finally got one Bruce!Let me know how you go cause I got a mallet with the same prob.although there is a LHS in Syd. that has Rivo' motors but have the short shaft & the rear of the boiler cast into the back of the motor,dont know what loco these mtrs are for but may come in hand for someone seeing as how rare Rivo' mtrs are! OR you could just sell it to me mate lol.
showed to a bloke at club tonight he said they have issues with a wire inside them, so will rip body off in the morning and sus it out. LHS in syd?? I have a few motors at mums I got in a package of spares a while back. chat on ICQ later
There is sometimes one or both of the spring loaded contact pins that rub on the inside of the big driver wheels (at the rear pair), will get gunk and fuzz on them, and lose contact. Clean these (all 4) with alcohol and a "Q" Tip, clean tread of drivers, and try again. If not that then check motor wiring, or email John Patton at: Yellowstone10.hotmail.com. He repairs Rivarossi engines professionally, including re-motoring them.
