Greetings, after lurking on this board for a couple of months, (and learning a lot) I have decided to join!!! As a way of introduction, I live in Massachusetts, but my favorite roads are UP and SP. I am currently working on my third n scale layout in 6 years, due to moves. The current layout is a dogbone style roughly 7x17 feet shaped like an L. The main line is down, several sidings are completed, and all wiring is done for the track that is laid. Since this will be run solo, I am using DC control, but have wired it so that DCC should be relatively easy to add later. I am using domino construction the blobs on each end are roughly 3.5x4' and the connections are 1x4. Each domino was made with a 1x4 frame with pink 1" foam on top. Hindsight being what it is, I should have added a second layer of foam to allow for more below track structure. The existing track is atlas code 80 with a mix of atlas and peco turnouts. Any future track will be atlas c55. I am also considering a couple of small areas of handlaid track, and depending on how that goes, I may add a yard to the layout. I like modern era modeling, so the roster somewhat reflects that, with pairs of SD 90's, SD 60's, SD 45's, Dash-8's and a Dash-9 as well. Also occasionally found on the layout are a GP 7, GP 9, SW1500 and a U28C. I am just starting to work on scenery at this time, starting at the blob on the long side of the L. When the zoning committee decides to appropriate funds for a scanner, I will post pictures and a track plan with a request for ideas for improvements/expansion. Kirk

Greetings (Captain) Kirk!! Welcome to the board, as you said, you'll learn a lot here. I am also an N scaler, modeling the modern-day UP, and live in the Commonwealth of MA. What area of the state are you in? I live north of Boston, near the NH border and the Coast (Newburyport/Haverhill area). Welcome aboard!
Kirk, Welcome to Trainboard I'm glad to see you enjoyed the site that you have decided to join. There are a great deal of forums available to assist you in your layout. I also have a layout that is a dogbone actually it dogbones a couple of time to give me maximum mainline.(My Website) I model UP and some of its predecessors as well as whatever I like I look forward to seeing more of your posts and maybe some pics of your layout. If you have any questions about the site please feel free to email me.
Welcome Kirk! Another N-scaler and from the east too! I hope you enjoy your stay at Trainboard. Yes we are a tad nuts (a tad, not a chad!!) but the persons and moderators on this board have a wealth of information and experience to share! "N"joy!! Russ The Hoffman Valley RR (N-scale)
Welcome aboard Capt. Kirk, Spock here! (I have to hide in here because I am an avid HO'er, but don't tell anyone or they would throw me out!) All of us (regardless of scale), enjoy hearing about eachother's layouts.
Hello Kirk, welcome aboard If you have been viewing the board for a while, you will already know that we have several nuts on board (especially Watash) But we also have some very experienced people who seem to know the answers to most questions.
Kirk, Welcome to the family. I model in "N"ormal scale, having given up that Horribly Oversized stuff. As you have noticed, you don't have to be nuts to post here......but it sure helps! Kirk, Welcome to Trainboard! I'm a re-converted N scaler myself, having switched from HO due to space restrictions (I still have it all, and I may use it later). You probably noticed the fellows here- we may be a little bit crazy, but as Waylon Jennings once said, "it keeps us from goin' insane" Whether we're in N scale, HO, G, S, O or EIEIO, we all share one thing- a love of trains & model railroading. You're in good company here.
Watash, ole buddy we are under fire! Ho'ers in a N scalers heaven! Ohh well we all get along in one way! Trains, trains, and more TRAINS Snicker snicker HE HA! By the way, I got the ecentric crank bolt! works beautifully too! THANKS ole buddy... I sure appreciate it!
John, I forgot to mention, but, you have borrowed my bolt long enough now. I need it back!....... (That wont fly huh? Well, keep it another few years and I'll probably forget about it anyway!)
