I'm researching Digitrax vs EASY DCC. So far, EASY DCC is ahead. Any comments on the EASY DCC system? I've found plenty on Digitrax.
Welcome to trainboard Boss, hope you'll find lots of good info here. Easy DCC was always a favorite system for me, however I finally went with Lenz. But if you like construction like the old ???electronic kits sold in the 50's and 60's[it's amazing what brain cells we lose as we get older]anyway Easy seems to be a robust system with lots of capabilities. I understand that Tony is a dealer for them, find more about Easy DCC at ttx-dcc.com. LOL
Mike 191: My research is based on operating and looking at both systems up close & personal. Here's some of what I like about EASY DCC as opposed to Digitrax: -EASY instructions are easier to understand -EASY seems to be a more substantial (stronger) system -EASY throttles are easier to use & program --much easier to assign a loco than Digitrax --knob more comfortable to use; case fits in hand better -EASY wireing seems to more straightforward -EASY facia plates are more substantial -EASY throttle plugs much stronger -Digitrax throttle plugs, modular, are too flimsy for me. I can seem them breaking. -several other factors that will not pop out of the brain at the moment -EASY DCC Command Station, however, is, in my opinion, wasted! --I wish the throttles were not fixed, i.e. you can't move them so it's kind of inconvenient to use them during an operating session.
Boss, at the Feb. Springfield, MA train show, I thought I saw a wireless throttle made by Easy DCC that interfaced with my Lenz. I'm not sure but as I recall it was somewhat pricey, but as all the Easy stuff is it was substantial.
Boss: In addition to Tony's go to the mfg web site: http://www.cvpusa.com/ Tony's lists a wireless starter set as well as all other components. Your list is interesting for me as I am trying to decide if I want to go DCC and if I do, what system I will buy. Have you seen the new Digitrax 400 throttle? Is it as difficult as you list for Digitrax? I have about decided that the system of choice will be the system where I get the best local support. Easy DCC is just up the street from me and seems a logical consideration. It is pricy. Thanks Mike
Mike, I have not seen the new Digitrax throttle. FYI, I just this evening finished reading the basic installation instructions for EASY DCC (got it from a friend). Much, much easier to understand than Digitrax. I read the Digitrax manual once (part of it twice) and watched the video twice. In my opinion, it cannot compare to EASY DCC. A friend who has EASY installed says the support is great; emails are answered almost instantly and there is always a knowledgable person on the other end of the phone. EASY is a little pricey but not all of us drive Chevy's or Fords either. Pay a little more, get a lot more. I think I've talked myself into EASY DCC.
Boss, Good luck on your decision!! I'm not far behind in making mine. FYI,, The LOH I buy from is Digitrax "Certified" yet the person I deal with most has the Easy DCC. Interesting!?!? Mike
Boss, What scale are you referring to? I don't want to make any assumptions, but the scale might play into your decision. Harold
Thanks Boss, I did HO once upon a time too I saw the new Digitrax 400 throttle.... it has a lot of features that make it easy to operate (I just bought 2 300R's) and look forward to their progression. I don't know about HO as much as N scale, but the Digitrax Chief II is what I just bought. Our club uses Digitrax, so that was an easier decision for me. Harold
Chessie: Do you have any experience with other systems? I have a small n scale and plan on expanding to double the size. I lean to Digitrax because of the coverage I see and the Chief seems so far ahead of the other offerings. Still Looking Thanks Mike

Still Looking Thanks Mike

Mike, No, I don't have any experience with other systems. I must admit that my decision to go with Digitrax was heavy influenced by the fact that A) I had experience using it and B) since our club used it, I new I could use my throttles on the club layouts with no problem. I think it is a very robust system and many, many clubs use them. The availability of items/parts is generally good, and many people/companies have a good working knowledge of it. It is easily expandable, even if you start with an entry level system. They offer a lot of Plug "N Play decoders, which makes it easy for beginners to convert locos easily. I have been very happy with my system so far. Harold
