I am going to bite the bullet and change my N scale AWRR over to DCC, and have decided on Digitrax. I think I read somewhere of them introducing a better throttle shortly, is this true, and is it worth waiting? ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery
Alan - Digitrax is getting set to offer a new throttle the DT300. Tony's Train Exchange is a great source for DCC info. He has the story and the info about the new throttle here http://www.tonystrains.com/tonystips/2000/102400.htm <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Alan: I am going to bite the bullet and change my N scale AWRR over to DCC, and have decided on Digitrax. I too am planning to go with DCC for my HO layout. Its a pretty small layout and I was planning to go with the Genesis setup. And then as I build a bigger layout or expand my existing one, I would upgrade the system to a Empire Builder or Chief. ------------------ Smile! It makes people wonder what you are up to.
As for waiting, it depends on what system you are buying. If you're getting the Chief, it might be worth waiting for. Otherwise, just get your system. I'm not overly familiar with Digitrax, so I couldn't help you out as to the features. ------------------ Corey Lynch Pres - Rensselaer Model RR Society NEB&W RR http://www.rpi.edu/~lynchc/Railfanning/railfanning.htm - My Site http://www.union.rpi.edu/railroad/ - NEB&W
Digitrax is actually coming out with 2 new throttles, the DT300 & the DT400. The DT300 is like the current Digitrax throttle you have probably seen, the DT100. The only real change is instead of a one line LCD screen it now has a two line LCD screen. This will provide a little better user interface. The DT400 throttle is very similar to the the large NCE/System1 throttles. Instead of each button having several function like the DT100/300 has, each button is a separate function. The screen on the DT400 is also larger and backlit. The new DT300 throttle is supposed to be the standard throttle in starter sets starting in Nov. The DT400 isn't supposed to be out till next year. If you haven't made your decision final yet, consider getting the radio throttle. Works great. Costs more but it works great.
Thanks for the info guys I know nothing about DCC (or Digitrax), but hope to glean some information at the forthcoming train show at Birmingham (England). One of my customers is on a trade stand there, and they sell Digitrax. They went to the states to get the gen from Digitrax, so I will be picking his brains Mine is only a small layout (by American standards), so I may only need the mid-range system. ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery
