I am starting a small HOn3 layout and have ordered the Digitrax Zephyr DCC system. I have a couple of MDC 2-8-0 Consolidateds and a MDC 2 truck Shay that I want to equipt for DCC. I would like to install either Digitrax or Soundtraxx with steam sound, decoders into these engines. Has anyone done this and what were your results? These are kits and I have not put them together yet. Dale Tomlinson
Hi Dale - I don't have an answer to your question. I'm not experienced with installing or using DCC. But I did want to extend to you a warm welcome to Trainboard. We are happy that you chose to join us. I'm sure that someone will have the information you seek. You might also post your question in the DCC forum (if you have not already done so).
For the Shay Get a copy of Jeff Johnston's MDC Shay Handbook. This is a great book of you are building or adding to the shay. Dave
