I'm Mike, and I am an alcoh........wait wrong forum. Hi I'm Mike, and I like trains. I live just north of Dayton. I guess if you really want to know my particulars you can visit my about me page. I will keep tabs on those of you who stalk me. I just recently thought about starting a model railroad. I am considering joining a local group, and am excited to learn all of this new stuff. I hope there is no math. I would also like to railfan, but I don't know how to do it yet. I will try not to insanely ramble on in my posts. I shall always be nice, and I shall attempt to refrain from posting while suffering the hallucinogenic effects of Ambien. I look forward to learning and experiencing this hobby from and with all of you.
Hi Mike, Welcome to the TrainBoard, glad to have you on board. Though model railroading is said to be a relaxing hobby in general, I've found over the past 65+/- years that an adult beverage can be a benefit on occasion, especially when a small, yet essential part has just flown off into outer space. It is at this point in time when one should leave the "train room" and go to the refrigerator, cabinet, or wherever.......!
Welcome aboard! I was just in Dayton this past weekend (and Columbus) and must say, you lucky devil, you have in your backyard one of my favorite Museums, the Museum of the United States Air Force. Lucky you! Unless of course aircraft are of no interest to you. We are all happy to have you aboard and feel free to ask questions.
Mike- Welcome to TrainBoard! Joining a local group could be an excellent way to get ideas about what you would like to pursue.
Hello, right back at you Mike, To bad I'ma not still working for a LHS in Kettering, Ohio. You are in a good place with plenty to do. Loads of Rail Fanning opportunities and lot's of model railroaders with active layouts. There should be a couple of club layouts as well. Go to one of the LHS's in town, make yourself known and try to find out about the train layout tours they have. Don't miss out on the Christmas Extravanganza, a layout that the power company in Cinncinnati Sets up. Worth the trip down and back. I'd of given anything to have been a member of the group that sets it up and runs it for the kids. Now residing in Big Bear Lake, where the closest thing to any Christmas Layout is mine. Oh well!
