Here are my latest DAV&P projects. The first one is an older Bachman 4-6-0. It was an ebay basket case. After nearly a complete rebuild, including adding a working front coupler and fire box plumbing and reverse ring head light in the tender. Then I added a real coal load and weathered her. While I had her apart I pre wired her for DCC so when I make the change all I have to do is pull the wire bundle out of the boiler and soder it to the DCC unit. The 2 bobber cabooses Welp there Bobbers all write! Just wundered what you thought of my work and the weathering. On the steamer I was hoping to get that well used and dirty feeling. So I was wondering what you thought of it all. Any ideas or thoughts?

Looks like you are having fun. That's what it's all about!

Although I must say that the conductor standing on that caboose looks serious. Must have been a tough taskmaster!

I really like the rust colered sections on the engine. It gives it that dry climate rusty look with all that dust ontop of it too. So exactly how much did you pay for this ebay casualty? I bet you got a good deal on her huh?

I think you have posted other pictures of your work, but I can't recall if you have posted any track plans. Would love to see how big the layout is.

The last post asked to see the plans for my G scale layout. Well have a few images of the part that once had scenery on it. The layout was in a room 13’ x 25’ and had a loop that ran out over my office and back. Please note the part about was. Due to factors beyond my control that fall in the Categorie of X WIVES… the layout recently came down. This is not all bad. As I and my current wife have just purchased a new house. The new house has a BIG basement that is 20’ x 40’. This will allow for a nice 2 level G scale layout with 18’ passing sidings, 6 towns and 2 yards. It will also have a 6 stall round house with operating turntable. I will be posting images as progress is made. At this point in time the big move is just starting so it will be mid summer before I have anything that looks like a railroad.

The fallowing track plan closely fallows a local short line that ran threw my home town Dunkirk NY. . The DAV&P was a 90 short line. There is now only 3 or so miles left today. Now under CSX and formally a host of other railroads, The DAV&P services a large canning factory in Fredonia and an Ice cream plant in Dunkirk.

I’m probably going to brake all the rules here but parts of the my layout will model present day on the DAV&P and other will model different time frames. Most of them being in the days of steam. I have a few friends who worked on the DAV&P and many other railroad friends who remember her well. I’m in high hopes that when they come to view the railroad they will see the different scenes and say “ I know this place! “ or “ I remember that! “. For me, if one of my friends who worked on the railroad picks up a throttle and it brings back memories, well I could ask for no better pat on the back. So here are the track plans. Please note they may change as research is ongoing in the local historic society on locations of some frailties.

:D Sounds like a good strategy. Getting the happy feeling inside, that is what it's all about.
