Looking to obtain images for the DHVM website of D&H equipment now in CP colors or D&H equipment still in D&H colors. Actually, anything new or old would be wonderful as I get ready to start making updates for 2003. Happy New Year...
If I understand this right, there are no D&H units left running on the D&H line...EXCEPT...I think two. One is owned by CPR and is stationed either in Albany or Binghamton as a yard switcher. It was repainted and released as a heritage loco. Try the C-P-R Yahoo Group as there are people there who would know the unit #. The other D&H loco is used by Upper Hudson River Railroad for the old North Creek line. All other locos are CPR/SL&HR locos.
There are 10 GP38-2s that were property of the D&H before CP. As far as I know they are the only surviving D&H locos still operating for CPR. The number series is 7303 - 7312. The 7303 & 7304 are painted in D&H Lightning Stripe but will be repainted into CPR colors when shopped. The 7312 is a Herritage unit and was recently repainted into Lightning Stripe by CP. It will remain in that scheme. The other units in the series wear various CP or STL&H paint. All the units are normally assigned to D&H territory.
Darren, I have a ton of photos for you, high quality at that, but I need to scan em in first, and that is gonna take some time. I'll get you some updates as soon as I get some done. And of course, Al is right about the geeps. The 03, 04, 12 lighting stripe, 06 and 08 in StL&H, 07 Golden Beaver, 09 and 11 Dual Flags, not sure about the 05 and 10. The 03 and 04 are probably gonna be shopped soon, they have been out for quite a while. Next time the get cycled north, look for them to come back in the Golden Beaver scheme.
