If I have the 1984 version of car and locomotive cyclopedia, is the 1997 version worth to have too?

Meaning; is their a lot of new info or drawings?

    Thanks

    Ben

    Yes and No

Hay Ben, Not to be trite but yes and no. As a rule cyclopedia's cover about a ten year span of time. And they are used to focus in on a spicific time frame, piece, and pratice. Are there a lot more drawings? Probably not, Maybe some of the newer locos. Unless that's what you want I don't think the information you glean will defray the cost. They start at about 75 bucks and go up to 250 bucks for the orignals, You can find reprints for less but I would put my money on the orignals. Two others I would recomend, the Railway Engineering and Maintenance Cyclopedia and John Armstrong's the Railroad-What it is, What it Does. you can find all of them at Simmons-Boardman or do a Google "Railroad Cyclopedia's and see what comes of that. You might get lucky at a meet or train show. Hope that helps you out.
