John, she's looking more and more like a contest winner every time you post.

I have discovered that N scale wheels with the fine tread make excellent diesel exhaust
fans for z scale diesels. If you ream out the axle joint and put Blma fans over them,
they look pretty good. I always thought that the rogue GP38 exhaust fans were not
tall enought among other things. If any body tries this let me know how it looks.

Harold, I also thought the exhaust fans were too small, but I use the Microtek fans detail to improve the look. I am always looking for way to improve the looks of my engines. I will look for the wheels next time I go to the hobby shop.

Look what just went through the Empire sub, and there is not one GP35 in the consist.

Nice work. I was wondering where you got the Yellow CSX logo for the Blue Scheme. I want to do some mock-ups of the first couple of SD40-2's we are doing for the show in July..I got the others covered.

    Thanks!

FR's Coalporter really looks great, so I order couple of kits, but I cant build metal kits. Fortunatly, I was able to get Gerd to build it for me. He send me a picture, and I thought I share it with everybody. I think it looks great.

Joe, that is my plan. The SD40 will be pulling my coal drag, so I need at least two. Once my slush fund gets funded, I will pick up more.

Tony, the plan is for Gerd to weather them. I think it brings out the details of the car. I am also weathering the AZL Coalporters. I playing with acrylic washes, but I think it looks better when I airbrush it. I just dont like the clean up,and its more relaxing.

Nice weathering John, but have you seen the new Hay Bros loads for the coalporters? I think with the Hay loads, the cars will look so much better!

Alternately, you could get some real crushed shiney black coal and glue on top of the plastic molded coal loads? I am getting some Hay loads, and will try to simulate their effects with real coal on other cars. :D

I haven't seen the new Hays Brothers new load. It seems that Ztrack is the only one carrying it right now. I have to wait till I have order big enought to spread the shipping cost. I am thinking of getting some coal load myself, because I am not happy with coal load profile from Hay's. I wonder if Karin still have some coal left.

Karin's coal is perfect, with just the right black diamond sparkle!
If she has any left, you might want to snap it up, cause she don't live in Alaska anymore! :D

John nice effects with the weathering. In N scale I used fine cinders ballast to get a pretty good coal look. Might be worth a try? looks good regardless :)

Looks good, what did you do to get the trucks weathered like that? That has a real natural dust look to them.

I finally had time to build a Eds models three bay hopper. I have to say I made some mistakes, but I think the next one will be better.
